I started on my diet today and thought I'd setup a journal here to help track my progress. I am pretty overweight so I expect I'll be posting here for a while until I reach my target. Joined a local gym in my area, which has 24 hour access. Working out has always helped me lose weight. I have let my weight slide for too long.

Starting Weight: 275 lbs.

That's great, Tman, and good luck to you! I need to lose about 40 pounds, and I've been seriously working on it now for a few weeks. I think I'll like reading your journal entries every day...it will give me inspiration. Thank you for allowing us all to share in your journey. :)

This mornings weigh in: 271.4 lbs

Good news :) Although I was lazy this morning and slept in, bypassing the gym :(

Wow! You're doing great! What changes to your way of eating have you made? What exercises are you doing?

I can't wait to keep reading your journal for encouragement with my changes.

Tman, good for you! I think we all have problems with exercise some days...sometimes it just isn't something that we want to do. But hey, as long as you are going in the right direction, you have every reason to be proud! I think that the more weight you lose, the more exercise you will want to do, because you'll just feel better overall. I don't want to pay to join a gym - but I really need to buy some free weights, or weight bench. I'll be watching your progress...you're an inspiration!

Thanks for the support guys! I have been a little behind for the last week or so and haven't made it to the gym. I check my weight this morning and I am at 272, so I haven't gained to much back, only a pound. I need to get back into going to the gym in the morning.

If I don't work out about 4 or 5 times a week I feel off. I have just got it planned into my routine. If you do it on a regular basis and fit into your day like you would going to work it will make it a lot easier to go. I know sometimes it gets hard to motivate yourself to get up and go. Trust me I am the kind of excuses. It is cold out, I'm tired, traffic will be bad. I had tons of them. I finally decided to make a decision and now I workout without fail. Instead of going to the gym though, I found a place that is like a warehouse that sells the stuff pretty cheap and got some home stuff. Now I really don't have an excuse to walk into the basement. Keep it up you can do it and you will feel so much better about yourself after you workout and sweat a little.
