It's so frustrating. You're dieting, doing really well, and using every ounce of will power that you can manage to find just to stay on track. Then along comes a friend or family member with something sinfully awesome to eat. And they always say the same thing, "oh come one, just one little taste". How do I just say no to that. They always manage to wear me down.

You have to surround yourself with people who support your weight loss efforts. If you know you are going to go to a function where there is going to be food eat before you go and use that as your "excuse" why you don't want to eat or try something that they have. I know it is so hard to say no to double chocolate cake but you have to remember that you are working hard for a reason. People who have never had a weight problem and can eat anything they want and not gain a pound don't know what it is like to have to say no to their favorite foods. Stay positive and stick to your guns, you can do it, I know it will be hard but you can do it.

That is such a common problem for people who are trying to lose weight and eat healthier. Either other people will tell you "can't you just go off your diet for one day?", or, and this one really kills me, they'll see you eating something and say "can you have that on your diet?", or "did you go off your diet?". grrrrrr. For some reason, when someone is dieting it can tend to make other people feel guilty or resentful. Strange.

I don't have any great words of wisdom. I wish I did. For me it all just depends on time of month and what I have a taste for. DH and I used to take a small ice cream sandwich to bed. I haven't had a taste for anything after dinner in a while. Yay!

I didn't work yesterday and today. I have a lot of work to get done including taxes. Yesterday a friend called and was visiting from out of state. I didn't say no either. ;)

Tonight's weakness was brownies. If people with chocolate would stay a safe distance away from me, I'd probably be okay. But if they get close enough for me to smell chocolate, I'm a goner. :(

Chocolate is my downfall, my weakness, my Achilles Heel. I'm not sure life would be worth living without chocolate, lol. But, I did find out that yes, you can eat chocolate and still lose or maintain weight. I could never give it up, so I just find a way to include it in my diet without going overboard. Okay, now you've got me thinking about chocolate truffles...mmmmmmm.

I came back here looking for inspiration and you're talking about chocolate truffles?!?! lol Well, at least I can't smell them, so I may be okay.

Did you ever notice that the better it tastes, the worse it is for you? For example things like tomatoes and spinach have hardly any calories at all, so they taste not-so-great. Then you have the other end of the spectrum, fast food and chocolate. I try to just avoid the stuff instead of finding ways to include it. Maybe thats why I give in to tempation so easily when friends show up with goodies.

I find that if I try to avoid things, I start to think about them too much. I think you can eat anything in moderation, and having a little bit of something that you crave can go a long way in helping you not feel deprived. I know it's hard to stop once you've started eating something good, but I guess the best way to get around that is to not have too much of it available. Like, if you want a piece of cheesecake, buy an individual slice. I think they sell them in the frozen section that way. For high-fat recipes that I really like, I sit down and try to figure out how to trim them up without losing too much flavor. I like the challenge. :)
