Okay, who here has tried the Atkins diet? I tried it a few years ago. I thought that it must be a wonderful way to lose weight. I ended up feeling sick to my stomach every day. I think it was just way too much protein and fat. I keep hearing about people who have lost a lot of weight with this diet, but for the life of me I don't know how they stick to it.

Yup I tried it as well. Along with every other diet out there. I couldn't stick to it either. I love bread way too much. My dh's old college roommate did it and was really successfull with it. He came to visit and he looked great. We haven't seen him in a while so I don't know how he is doing now. The other reason I didn't like it is becasue I don't like being told I can't have certain foods like the bread and stuff. I think you definitely have to be able to think outside of the box on this diet or you would get bored eating the same thing over and over again. I saw on tv, I forget what channel, it might have been the Food Network, anyway I think his name is Blaine and he does a cooking show based on the Atkin's diet. He shows how to fix different foods that are on the Atkin's plan. Not the diet for me, I would my ice cream too much hehe.

I did. I bought all kinds of low carb products: bread, milk, ice cream. But I didn't lose enough to make this way of eating worthwhile for me. I'm also not a fan of vegetables so I didn't have a lot of choices for filling myself and my meals.

Haven't people had a lot of health problems from doing this diet? Like liver and heart problems or something. All that fat can't be that good for you can it? Isn't it a lot of meat, vegetables and stuff? How many carbs. are you limited to in a day? You need carbs. in your diet. I love carbs. so this diet wouldn't work for me at all. I would think it would be a rather expensive diet to be on too. Meat is expensive and if you have to eat a lot of it you spend quite a bit at the grocery store.
