I always start with good intentions to lose weight. I start working out, usually walking outside but when it is cold I do a walking tape indoors, and I start eating better but then I fall off the wagon once and I think I have blown it and give up. For instance, in January I started out doing my tapes every morning and started eating less and was doing really well. Well then I went to a dinner party with all kinds of snacks and goodies and I threw the diet in the trash so to speak. So the next day I say to myself well I blew it last night there is no going back and then have the hardest time getting back on track. Does anybody have any tips on how to stay motivated? I would appreciate any help that you could offer. I really want to stay on my diet and lose weight and feel better about myself. Thanks in advance.

I think what happens to a lot of us is we decide to make all our changes at once. We're tired of our weight and want it gone now. If I ever find the Genie, I'm asking for perfect weight for me forever. If only it were that easy. ;) When we take on too much at once, it's too easy to give it all up at once.

Instead of instituting a brand new diet and fitness program all at once, make a change a day. Add a vegetable today. Add water. Cut out that afternoon cookie. Small changes add up. If you can't do a whole walking tape, or any tape, walk in place at the sink while you do dishes.

I need to take more of my own advice. But this is the only way I can make myself not crazy while working toward my goal.
